I was a notebook noble for a while. I was saving up for a full featured desktop PC for some time and my laptop died before I was able to save up enough. Aaaand now I am thinking about Plan B computer, which would help me to get through the saving/waiting period.

I have an old LG L1953S which can rock awesome 1280x1024@75Hz. So, I am sort of aiming for a PC that could run games at 720p@60Hz at highest quality possible. Mostly single player RPGs and some CSGO and Heroes of the Storm.

After I have built my ultimate rig, I would like to re-purpose this as a HTPC, so some extensibility is really appreciated.

Budget: Ballpark of 500 EUR / 500-600 USD. The lower the better.

Location: Europe/EU. Exact location doesn't really matter, I am outside of US or any other major country, so internet shipping and local retailers.

Purpose: Gaming at 720p@60Hz, Skyrim, CSGO, Heroes of The storm, Sniper Elite 3, Withcer 3, GTA V. Settings preferably as high as possible, will live with medium, too.

Peripherals required: None, just the tower.

Parts reused: Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB 2.5"

OS: No need

So, what are my options?

This is a Skylake i3 build. Plenty of room for upgrading.

This is an 860k build. The CPU won't be upgradable without switching out the motherboard and RAM (if you go skylake). However, this has much more gaming power, at the price of upgradability and being on the newest hardware.

Forgot to mention:

I have Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB 2.5". So, no need for storage drive, would like SSD for boot.
