Building a PC from scratch

I've been considering building a PC for a while now, and I have a general idea from what I want from a computer, but I want to see what others think I should get first. I have a budget of about $750, but I would like to keep it a bit lower. One thing I do need from this is a full setup. It would need to include a keyboard+mouse, WiFi adapter, OS, and monitor, which would ultimately change the price to about under $500. I am using it for gaming purposes, but I don't run many graphic intensive games, though I may do that in the future. As for a case, I would prefer a mid-tower, and try to find one with two fans. If not, then 1 fan is fine

Has a nice upgrade path. Also a SSD as a boot drivr and for any slow load time games, apps, etc. Then you could add a 1TB HDD for mass storage later.
