Installing Windows w/USB disc drive

I am planning on building a pc and I've read that I can install windows 7 or 8 for cheap and then upgrade to 10 afterwards. In order to actually install the OS can I just use a USB disc drive instead of installing through an actual USB stick? I'm purchasing an Asus A68HM-K Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard if that needs to be said. It just seems as though I'll run into issues trying to go the route of using rufus and a stick.

...can I just use a USB disc drive...

Whether you can or can not, depends on whether your mobo supports it.
Current mobos should support external USB disc writers.
If you want to be sure, download and read your ASUS mobo manual available from ASUS.
