Your memory is of different speeds (1600/1333) plus you would have 3 slots filled (2x4GB and 1x8GB). If you want 16GB maybe just get 2x8GB sticks at whatever speed you want. Your mobo goes up to 1600 so maybe do that. I'm not familiar with that particular 290 but it's kind of expensive (are these US $?) If you look at the price history it seems kinda high at the moment. If US you could easily get a 390 for that money. Here's an MSI R9 390 for $329.

The only thing worth upgrading to from that is the GTX 980 Ti. You should get a better PSU like a SeaSonic 650W Gold. That PSU isn't very good.

Get a 1600 2x8GB kit for better function (16GB @ true dual-channel) and go with an R9 390 or 390X. CHeaper alternative to the GTX 980 (which I'd always prefer to the R9 300 series).

If you have the spare change to do it, I'd also highly recommend getting a fully modular PSU.

The 390 is just an overclocked 290. That wouldn't be an upgrade. The 390X is close to the 980 at a cheaper price.

The 390 gets an extra 8 FPS in BF4.

Fiji GPU is in both, the Radeon R9 390X and Radeon R9 390, not R9 290X's Hawaii.

It's still not an upgrade to spend $300 on to gain less than 10 FPS. I guess he could sell the 290 on eBay or something to make some money back.

If you are looking for a good quality graphics card I would ALWAYS recommend the GTX 98ti. But if you can wait 2 months the new NVIDIA Pascal will be coming out and that will put the GTX 980ti to shame. If you don't want to spend too much money the GTX 960 and up is very good.

Nothing in particular. Just looking for better performance overall.
