Smallest cases?

So I've been thinking over a new concept build. I call it The Spark. Essentially it's a red-themed tiny workstation. I'm basing it around the x99 platform and the 5820k because hex-core is plenty fine and I'm not made of money.

So these are the two lists I have: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/fellway/saved/bk4TwP

I know the crazy CM cooler is overboard, but I don't plan to OC much and it'll be fine enough for my uses and the aesthetic is pretty awesome.

I'm trying to make the form factor as small as I can while still letting it run cool. I've had to go with mATX however because of the lack of ITX options for motherboards. My GPU choice is the result of wanting gaming power up to 1440p, but Pascal will probably be out by the time I get close to building this.

Any thoughts on cases? I do like these two, but size and portability are two pretty big things for me and these cases, while small, don't offer the best in either category.

Silverstone sugo sg13 Might be a good choice and at a good 50$ price range, I may replace it from the 380t on your recommended build though. linustechtips made a video about putting a full sized titan X and a xeon 18 core and it still worked perfectly fine---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjDJNwAANwA

That's a very impressive feat.

I'd actually be very likely to try something like that, except there aren't any x99 ITX boards in red... It's a pretty dumb reason, but for now it rules it out, haha

not sure if it helps but I made this... http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/zG4CmG

subsequently put in a i7 4790 (underclocked) and a samsung 250g ssd (failed with sm951)

small and stormingly quick ...but black, not red ...easy to spray paint tho!

ps ...the sugo sg05 is well known for being easy to mod to get big gpus in. if you are for sure going 980ti (why ? ..yrchoice) then you'll need some good modding skills for sure ...but it's possible ...just wont win a beauty contest!)

(also, for the heck of it, I put a new front case fan in, taken from a hovercraft ! (sounds like it anyway) ..the noctua industrial 1billion cfm thing thats about £20 ...with that and underclocking along with a basic noctua fan on chip, cpu temps dont go above about 55deg c )

Thanks for sharing!

Hovercraft

I think "industrial" is the preferred term, haha

I'm always impressed by the sheer amount of stuff that can be sensibly packed into some of these Silverstone cases.

By the time I end up building it, Broadwell-E and Pascal/Polaris are probably gonna be out, so I will probably be able to find a smaller GPU with enough power as well as (hopefully) a red mITX board, which is difficult with x99.
