Trying to simplify my cable routing. I would appreciate some advice...
My case has a front panel that controls on/off switch , 3-position fan switch, 2 USB 3.0 connectors and an LED for drive activity etc. This panel is supplied power via a molex connector that is currently connected to the connector marked 'Periph' on the power supply (EVGA 750 W Platinum). This cable unfortunately has 4 female connectors. Since I only need one molex connector, this is a lot of cable and connectors. I need only one molex to power the front panel.
I have one 1 SSD storage device, and also 1 conventional hard disk, both powered by one SATA cable which currently has an unused connector. The storage devices are currently connected by a SATA cable to the connector on the power supply marked 'SATA 1'.
I could eliminate the entire molex cable and its un-needed connectors by using a SATA to LP4 15 Pin Power Adapter such as this http://www.amazon.com/Sata-LP4-Pin-Power-Adapter/dp/B000NPKGGU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A1BBNV161L5Q2R
Using that adaptor, can i power the front panel, two storage devices off of one SATA cable (+molex adaptor) connected to the power supply at 'SATA 1'?
Could I get some input/advice from more experienced builders?
