I have my old HDD saved from my old computer running windows 7 professional with office suite professional and my photoshop etc that i want to keep. Possible to just plug that hdd into my new build and it will boot right up?

My new build is everything but an hdd.

...and it will boot right up?

Unlikely.
Don't be surprised if result is BSOD

I have my old OS booted to a PC with

  • new CPU,
  • new GPU
  • new storage
  • new RAM

only old motherboard.

I would say, it might work. No guarantees...

The motherboard is the one thing that would cause that to not work...

Hm...

I think I had one of my motherboards die on my around 2010 and I bought a new one but I didn't have to reinstall the OS. I guess they were both manufactured by she same company though. :)

Just a side note: I still keep using that board that replaced my broken one :D Still works perfectly fine.

Well, if you have a retail copy, you should be able to contact Microsoft and tell them about transferring your OS. If you have a prebuilt, it won't work. There's a reason I prefer to recommend the retail version over OEM

When you install Windows it selects/installs drivers specific to the motherboard chipset, SATA controller, and USB ports**. Switching to another motherboard it will not have the chance/any reason to attempt to install updated drivers.

It will blue screen.

**(And any other on-board components)
