Fractal Nano S and EVGA G2 (165mm deep) vs EVGA GS (160mm deep)

So I'm working on a new Fractal Nano S build and I have a G2 650w (165mm deep PSU) and a GS 650w (160mm deep PSU). I can send back whatever I don't use.

I really want to use the G2 even though it's supposedly a hair noisier than the GS because it's the "better" supply -- but to complicate the matters further, the Nano S suggests a PSU that's only 160mm long.

I put the G2 in the case as a test and it seems I can pretty easily get the cables where I need to go -- but I'm still hesitant because of the supposed extra noise and the Nano S 160mm limit.

What would you do? Money isn't the factor.

Oh, I won't be OC'ing. I'm powering an i7 6700 and will plop a 1080 vid card in there someday. Aircooled. 2 drives. Nothing nuts.

I would stay with the G2, size wont be an issue and it is the better of the 2.

  • the GS is 150 mm, not 160.
  • the G2 is quieter than the GS due to things like a better fan controller profile, a bigger/quieter fan (although the GS uses a better bearing type) and generally being a much higher quality platform.
  • you could get the corsair RMx 650 for something that's the same size and performance as the G2, but quieter and with a longer warranty.
