Is this a good PSU?

So I'm looking at the Rosewill QUARK 500, which is an 80+ Platinum PSU, for around $60. Is it a good PSU?

yes, it's good for it's price. very efficient. though a high end 80+ gold like the 550 G2 would be better overall.

I agree with BlackFire here, it's hard to compare the G2 and Quark fairly as no website that I've seen has tested both, but the G2 looks like it's ripple suppression is better (theoretically better overclocking potential, but I doubt it would make that much of a difference), as well as better voltage regulation.

Also, with the G2 you get twice the warranty, a quieter power supply, and better build quality. Personally if both were similarly priced, I'd sacrifice the slightly higher efficiency for the G2.

the 550 and 650 G2 have a 7 year warranty, so 2 more years for parts and 6! more years for labor vs the Quark. but the whole platform is better made, performs better and handles heat better. :)

Oops, thanks for pointing that out! My 750 G2 has a 10 year, so I thought all of the G2 lineup did as well.
