OC Build or Non OC build?

fernievidal

Hi!

I've been crunching the numbers with this two builds. One is OC-able while the other is not (duh).

Basically what I cannot decide is whether I should go with i5-6600K + RX 480 8GB or i5-6500 + GTX 1070 8GB.

Please do note that I am limited with the parts available in my country. I don't mind the price as long as it wont go higher than $1100.

Use case: Programming and gaming

No EVGAs in the Philippines. Seasonic and Corsair are the only ones in here so I went for Seasonic.

i would get the Corsair RMx 650W for $80 you get a better psu with more watts for 3 bucks more

I've read the review of this Seasonic G550 in JohnnyGuru. It actually got a high review score. Plus the one you suggested isn't available here. Sucks to be me right?

yeah i would just try to grab a 650w instead for future proofness and OCing

If this is for 1080P @60HZ, the RX 480 or GTX 1060 would be fine. For 1440P I would go with the GTX 1070.

You can still get the 6600k and GTX 1070 under 1000. You're just overspending on some parts.

60 bucks for 2X4gb ram is insane. You can get 16gb for that amount.

You can get a cheaper motherboard without sacrificing on quality. The krait 3x usually cost 145-150 bucks. Its now 125 bucks. You can get a cheaper case. Also the newer corsair CXM (450,550 and 650) are very good units so you can save there too.

i would suggest a better case such as the one in my build above.

I'm not buying the parts all at once so I can spend some on the case. I don't mind the price for that awesome acrylic side panel.

ok then go for it :)

Why a mini ITX card and a budgety case? The overclocking build had 1025 as the final amount.

BUt the overclocking build has a RX 480 and if you check his comment you will notice that he made changes to the build. BOth were under 1000. Still mine has a GTX 1070.

yes but you have a 1070 designed for itx cases why limit you cooling when he can buy a better rx 480/1060 and the case i suggested and if hes going for 1080p gtx 1070 is overkill

I just went for the cheapest.. still nothing wrong with that card. I have a mini itx card and I don't see any issues with cooling. I do agree that longer cooler would be better.

true we will have to see what screen res and hz he is playing at for the gpu recommendation

NO He didn't .. You can ask him. The overclockable build has and had a RX 480. NO need to lie.
