Hubby says I will mess this up! Feedback wanted on my first parts list...

I have a budget of $1200. I want the fastest CPU+GPU I can afford today on something I can upgrade. Hubby doesn't think I should build my own pc so now I think it's a challenge I can't pass up.

Computer is replacing a 2011 iMac (ugggghhh don't ask!) and will be used for video editing (hobby only), photo editing, multi-tasking ( a LOT!) , and likely gaming by my now 12 year old son. He's in to minecraft right now but that will likely change/grow.

I am willing to pay a little more for something that's easier to use/install/get support from, so consider that if you're looking to change anything.

Edited: I chose an LG 27" IPS 4K monitor with Free sync. That's partly why I went with the Radeon RX 480 GPU. Is it a mistake to pick that over the GeForce 1060 or 1070? (Keeping price in mind)

I would spend a little more and get a better PSU; for example:

And I'd spend $5 more to get the Cryorig H7 which will cool much better than the 212 EVO. I have no idea about the Sandisk Z400 read/write speed, I prefer the PNY CS1311 240GB myself, which is the same price.

honestly this looks really good, everything is well chosen. Why do you need the optical drive though? its not really necessary unless you already own a lot of cds/dvds. If you wanted you could downgrade the cpu to a 6600k which is still an amazing cpu and will work great for editing photos and multitasking. This would allow you to get a gtx1070 for your gpu which would be really good (if you want to do more than 1080p resolutions).

I have a lot of old photos archived on CDs so it seems easier to just dedicate a slot instead of messing with a USB one.

Thank you! That does seem like a much nicer case. Everything else seems like great suggestions.
