Will be using the computer for some gaming at 1080p, photo and video editing and standard desktop duties.

Ideally would like to finish up around $1500 AUD.

Any recommendations where I can save money / get better performance with a different option?

Thanks!

Swapped the single 500GB SSD for a 250GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive which will give you a balance between application launch speed and storage space.
Spending that much money on RAM isn't worth it, you're much better off putting the money into other area
960 is last gen stuff, swapped it for an RX 470 which will outperform it
You don't need thermal paste, your CPU Cooler comes with it.
Found a cheaper Blu-Ray reader
The Evolv is a nice case, but also pretty darn pricey so I swapped it for a Corsair 350D.
The Cryorig H7 is both cheaper and performs better than the 212 evo

You could upgrade to an RX 480 if you wanted, but it would be about $50 over budget. Would recommend removing the optical drive to save money if you wanted to do that.
