I want to make a reliable home media server for handling multiple (around 4) transcoding at a time. It'll also be running SABnzbd, CouchPotato and sonarr. Please guide me if this build will be good enough for my requirements.

Note: I haven't build any custom pc build prior to this one. I plan to run freeNAS.

I guess this setup would be all right, but I do not run PLEX.

I'd get confirmation of my system on the PLEX forum.

Looks good to me. Im currently in the same boat. but think i might use a fx 8350 since its like 85$ cheaper. and a mobo is cheaper for it.

the passmark score the xeon gets is like 9609. general rule of thumb atm is 1 transcode per 2000 score. possible it could handle 5 transcodes. but this should meet your needs.

EDIT: worth noting it doesnt have an igpu. so youll need a gpu in it.

Do I need a gpu? I thought transcoding doesn't require use GPU at all. I am more concern about the PSU and Stock cooler that comes with xeon.

Well. You'll need to install everything. And have a screen for it. Far as I knew
