My friend wants to build a rig. Shes not a gamer so No need for a gpu, she will be doing a lot of presentations and wants a cool case so I threw this together for her.

I would go Mini-ITX - also, there's no need for a Z170 motherboard with an unlocked processor.

It's a nice tempered glass side panel case.

Thanks for the reply, i will look intro itx but the mobo is gonna stay cause we are gonna experiment with ocing with the base clock method. I know I dont have a cooler, I will include a hyper 212 evo or something decent. Thanks for the feed back.

They do make Z170 boards in the ITX variety, although considerably more expensive.

I've changed:

  • The mobo for a cheaper/non OC unit with attached wifi. Since it's only officey type work, this unit will be more than fine.
  • Unless shes doing some large productivity tasks, 8GB of RAM is sufficient at the moment.
  • Since we've saved a few bucks, I've add an SSD to help speed up the responsiveness of the system (but could go cheaper if you wish)
  • I'm not really an authority on PSUs but a quick google didn't turn up good results for the Roswill VALENS series. Happy to be corrected though. I've listed a cheaper and well recommended unit at a similar wattage. It's big enough for a GPU upgrade later but you could save some more coin and go smaller again since the system draw is so low.

thanks for the psu suggestion, that psu is hte same one I am current using in my pc so i know its very good. Im probably gonna change it. I included the hybrid hard drive because I thought it would easier to manage a single drive, then again I have no idea cause I only use a single hard drive. About the 16 gigs, She might get a gpu in the future and is most likely gonna do video editing so thats some future proofing. She also uses Cds (I know it weird) so I will still have a cd drive. Thanks for the Feedback.
