What CPU Should I Use For A $900-1000 AUD Build?

I am planning out a PC that I will mainly be used for Gaming and Study. I will mainly be playing GTA V, Rocket League and Overwatch and possibly Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Dark Souls III and Shadow of Mordor. Here is the parts that I have decided on so far, feel free to provide input but I mostly need help with the CPU:

CPU: Intel Core i5 6400-$239 AU or Intel Core i3 6100-$153 AU or Intel Core i5 6500-$269 AU

GPU: XFX Radeon RX 470 RS Triple X 4GB-$289

PSU: XFX TS Series Pro 550W-$79

Case: Deepcool Tesseract Blue and Black SW Mid Tower-$55

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD-$66

Motherboard: MSI B150M Bazooka-$119

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB(2x4GB) DDR4 2133mhz Black-$65

Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WN822N-$22

So My question is is it worth spending extra on an i5 6400 or 6500 over the i3 6100? I want this pc to last a couple years without having to be upgraded and I want to play AAA games at Medium-Max Settings at 1080p. I won't be doing any streaming or editing etc this pc will most likely just be for Gaming and Study. Thanks in Advance for any help or advice. Note that i have already bought the Wifi Adapter, Motherboard, Storage and Case so opinions on those parts are not needed, but still appreciated.

Since you want it to last several years without an upgrade, go for the i5.

Which one do you think though, the 6400 or the 6500, considering the $30 price difference?

I don't think the 15% price difference would equate to 15% performance. I would look up some benchmarks and see if it's worth it to you. I can't say for certain but I would go 6400 and use that $30 on something else.

Since you can afford it, might as well get the i5 6500. While the i3 have better price/performance, the i5 is more "future-proof" and the price increase from i5 6400 to i5 6500 is worth the 500Mhz increase. Here's the pcpartpicker list i put from your part:

Also it might be worth considering GTX 1060 3GB instead of that RX 470 depending on the price.

Thanks for that man. I did consider the 1060 3gb as it does have better performance in games today, but i was thinking as the years go on and more vram is required and dx12/vulkan is more common in games that the 470 would eventually be better.
