Performance wise, what can I expect with this build?

Hello, after months thinking of what kind of gaming pc I settled for 1440p gaming with 60 fps. Hopefully most games but my budget is $1600 excluding monitor. What would you change for the best possible performance? Also with this build what monitors would you recommend? Thanks

  • You should spend some more money on a better quality CPU cooler that overclocks better aswell.

  • You do not need a mini itx mobo with that case. You would be better off with an ATX board.

  • That ram has a rip off price. You can get faster ram for cheaper.

  • You most likely won't end up using the pro features of windows when you are primarily gaming.

  • The WD Black series has bad bang for your buck. You can get fast and reliable storage for alot less

  • Will you ever use CDs or DVDs?

  • I would personally choose a better quality case.

I made this this build by mainly using tom's hardware and logical increments. I didn't want to waste money if I can get better performance cheaper. To answer some of your questions, yes, I still use cds and dvds because I still have some recent games that can be installed with cds and some movies which I would like to rewatch. Thanks a lot though I now changed my cpu cooler, motherboard, hdd, and ram. About windows 10 pro, it's $10 in difference which I thought if I'm going with performance why not? The last thing I want to ask which is the best monitor for my build? Thank you again

This is the cheapest: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/6RJkcf/aoc-monitor-q2778vqe

If you want to stay under $1600 you can just use a regular SSD instead of an m.2. There isn't much difference and since you have the space in your case for a regular SSD you should go for it.

For the parts I want it under $1600, so for the monitor I don't want the cheapest I need one that will be on par with this build. Below is the updated build. Thanks again

What would you change for the best possible performance?

I would just get a normal SSD, you really wont see the benefit while gaming. Also the 960 evo and 960 Pro should be released this month.

The black drive makes no sense.. You are just wasting money.

You are using a mini itx motherboard inside an ATX case. Why? Makes sense to get a micro atx or atx motherboard.

I would definitely get a better cooler..

Get the EVGA FTW which IMO is the best 1070 and has much better warranty/customer service from EVGA which Asus lacks.

Get cheaper ram.. and a better case.

I will use the ssd for installing the OS and the main games I'll be playing. Should I go with atx instead of micro atx for the motherboard? Is the evga 1070 better than the asus one? Thank you very much with helping me change the parts.

Micro atx will be fine... And yes the EVGA is a better card IMO..

You're welcome! :)

Thank you! I was worried about the parts because I just used tom's hardware and logical increments as a source of info, so I wanted opinions from people like you. It's amazing how with the same money you can get something much better.
