I found a great deal on a GPU that's about $110 right now but normally sells at $260 (GTX 760) . Should I buy it or wait for black Friday and get a better card. Can you also tell me what prices are to be expected from black Friday? like how much would a rx 480 or gtx 1060 go down or even CPUs like i5 6500 or i5 6600k. Thanks in advance.

"Oh magic conch-shell, how much will prices fall in the near future"

  • "ask again later"

"The conch has spoken!"

no, but srlsy, no one knows. Ofc older parts will get cheaper in the future, but how much cheaper is just a guessing game. Even if you base your guess on previous drop-rates you can't be sure.

wait for BlackFriday and try to get GPUs in the following order:

  • GTX 1060 6GB
  • GTX 1060 3GB
  • RX 480 4GB
  • RX 470 4GB

That isn't a great deal and its not even sold anymore. It used to be that much years ago but this is the present. Its a mediocre or average deal at best for a used card. You could get a brand new GTX 950 w/MiR for the same price and it is only a bit behind it.

CPU's aren't going to drop any in price and for GPU's who knows.

The gtx 760 rivals the gtx 950 and also the gtx 950 is $170 about $60 more for the same performance The gtx 950 might be 5-10% max better but paying $60 more just for that much performance is a bad deal in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-du8nGBZuDI heres the proof

The GTX 950 can be had for ~$109 with MiR and ~$130 without MiR's. Not sure where you are getting your prices from. You could even get a used R9 380 or GTX 960 for below $130 and a GTX 970 for around ~$160 used and likely a used R9 280 for around ~$140.

The prices are different in canada $100 CAD = $75 USD. The cheapest gtx 950 I could find was $170

Well that changes a lot. For that much then its a pretty good deal.

My main question is Should I buy the gtx 760 or wait for black friday for a better GPU under $130?

That's a terrible price for a 760. Used 770s sold for $100-115 about 2-3 months ago. Their performance is similar to the R9 380's. A 760 is slightly better than a 950, which should cost $100 new (given the price and performance of the kinda better RX 460).

Not sure about Black Friday and Cyber Monday prices. For Friday, keep in mind that you'll pay a lower price but eat higher costs (e.g. waiting at the doors, in longer lines, dealing with mayhem, facing higher chances of stuff selling out, etc.). So, it depends on how much you value your time and sanity. :)

Ongoing 'sale prices' (including mail-in rebates, multi-promo codes, and combo discounts):

1060 6GB - $200-210

1060 3GB - $180

480 4GB - $180-200 (rare)

470 4GB - $180-200

i5-6600k - $200

i5-6500 - $180-190 (pretty rare)

The 1070 and 1080 haven't budged much. And, those prices aren't including eBay 'open box' and 'new' prices.

Prices during Black Friday and Cyber Monday would have to fall by 10-33% from normal prices (e.g. $250 for a 1060 6GB) in order to meet the recent sale prices. So, I'd expect prices to fall by at least that rate.

Ohhh, then that's good enough! :D

Wow, I remember when the exchange rate was around $1 USD to $1.10 CAD.

Just some personal experience, I had an R9 270x with an FX-6300 and later an i3-6100. It would max out Skyrim with a high-detailed texture pack and smoothly played Fallout 4 on ultra (with some settings scaled down from 90% to 75-85%), so it was pretty good for me. That 760 should do better (roughly 5-10 higher average FPS, 1080p, ultra settings). Hope that helps! :D
