Basically Title, is it worth it to downgrade the i7-6700 to a i5-6500 (30% decrease) for a 120gb ssd.

The difference in price between an i5 and i7 is about $100.

Subtract the price of the mechanical drive in a build (~$50), and that's $150 to put towards and SSD.

If you can come up with another $20 on top of that, you can have a 750GB MX300.

It is difficult to say without knowing what the computer will be used for.

I'm in the same situation because I have an i7-6700 and a 360GB hdd but I wouldn't do it. I would just save money and buy the ssd later :)

That all depends on what you are doing. Also its not a 30% decrease across all workloads, its going to vary.

What do you use the computer for?
