Hi Guys,

I have never built a PC before, I'm making the switch from Apple... However, I've decided I want a decent, relatively future proof gaming machine. Please could you take a look at my parts list before I put the orders in, just to check for any incompatibilities etc.

Your build looks pretty good, altough I've some changes I would make.

Imo you spending too much on the motherboard. You can get a motherboard that has almost the same features for much less. For example the Gigabyte GA Z170X Gaming G7. That's also why I went up with the RAM frequency, because that one doesnt supprt 3000 but 3200.

There was once an article about Kingston SSDs where they gave out bad ones or sth like that can't find it now. Adata is very decent and cheaper too. Also think about getting a 500 GB SSD since I have a 250 one and I can tell you it's not very much.

I'm no expert when it comes to Liquid coolers, but i haven't heard much about yours. The Corsair one has plenty of good reviews, so maybe consider getting that one.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on the motherboard and SSD. To be honest I only chose that MB because it had built in bluetooth. I guess I could get a PCIe module for that anyway? Also I wanted the best MB to match the GTX 1080.

There are very cheap bluetooth PCIe modules or USB sticks. So it's not worth it wasting that much more money for that single feature.

Hey, please could you confirm if I went with the Gaming 7 MB as you suggested, would I need 3000mhz or 3200mhz ram to work with it?

It's not like it wouldn't work with 3000mhz at all, but you'd only be able to overclock to 2800. But since the price jump from 3000 to 3200 is not really high, you should get the 3200mhz RAM. Ofc you could also just get 2800mhz RAM but I recommend going with 3200mhz.
