I'm helping my friend who wants to build a computer so that he doesn't have to use his 5 year old laptop play games anymore. He usually only plays league, but I'm pretty that's because it's the only game his laptop can handle, but I digress. I want to help him build a PC that can handle more games while being under $1000 dollars, I've put together a build myself but I'm still relatively new to picking components out. He would need a full build with peripherals, with room for upgrades when he can(college student life). Any opinion or suggestions are welcome.

I don't see any fundamental mistakes, though

  • I would get a B150 chipset motherboard as it has more PCIe lanes (8 over the 6 in H110 thus the GPU would run in PCIe 3.0 x 8 mode, not PCIe 3.0 x 4 mode)
  • I wouldn't buy an optical drive. Install OS from a USB stick. You wouldn't use the optical drive for anything else, really.
  • Please note, that the keyboard/motherboard combo is not priced.
