Get an i5 with Iris Pro and skip the Video Card. It will just add more heat and weight.

The i5-5675C? That i5 costs $300...

He'd be better off going mITX with a case like the Elite 110 or Core V1 and getting a small GPU like the GTX 1050 or RX 460.

He wants it to be portable so I'm taking weight and heat into consideration. Skimping on the discrete GPU will reduce weight and it's one less part that could break during transport.

That's understandable, but the OP is better off just getting a smaller form factor, and these small GPUs don't weigh much at all. Also motherboards and GPUs and very durable and would only need to remove the GPU during a long haul transit, if he's just driving to a friends house, He'll be fine. He can even secure the GPU with an extra bracket so it doesn't move.

The i5-5675C is overpriced and on an older socket. It's the same with all AMD APUS that he could use too.

In your original part list you didn't include a storage device. I wonder how you'll install your OS lol. Considering it is a mobile budget PC, you shouldn't be getting 16GB RAM. 8GB is plenty enough for someone who's not doing media editing or CAD. Your original case is very bulky so I picked out a smaller case for you. Iris Pro (the GPUs used on Apple MBPs) is very powerful on its own and there's no need for a low end GPU (If you want an RX get a RX480).

Try this:

I switched he mATX components to mITX which is much more portable. You can go the intergrated graphics route of you want, but you should have no problems with the GPU. I also added a storage drive.
