Correct fittings?

Hello,

Just wondering if someone could spare a minute to explain to me or help me out with a small question. I'm planning on building a system, which will be using an Asus P8H77-V ATX LGA1155 mobo (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H77V/#specifications). I am planning on using 3 additional fans ontop of the CPU cooler, but I can't figure out if the fans I've chosen will work with the mobo in mind. The fans in question are; http://www.scan.co.uk/products/akasa-140mm-blue-led-fan-fitting-for-13-135-and-14cm-anti-vibration-pins-included x1 and http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-akasa-ak-274cb-4bls-crystal-blue-4-led-fan x2

I would appreciate it if someone could explain how to find out if these fans will work with the mobo. I'd also be happy with a yes/no answer, but I like the whole "Teach a man to fish crap" :)

Thanks in advance and merry Christmas if you celebrate it. :)

As far as I can see, you'll be one fan header short. The motherboard only has two connectors for fans apart from the CPU one.

The fans may have adapters to connect directly to the PSU, though, or your case may have a built in fan controller into which you can plug the fans.

But you won't be able to drive 3 fans plus CPU cooler from this motherboard alone :-)

And Merry Christmas to you too!

Thank you for the reply. I assumed that I had enough slots for powering the fans due to the fact the specs for the mobo reads as; 1 x CPU Fan connector(s) 2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) 1 x Power Fan connector(s)

I thought the CPU fan cooler would the the CPU obviously, leaving me the 2 chassis and one power fan connector. I'm guessing now that the power fan connector is for the fan in the PSU? This is my first build I'm planning and I'm not 100% tech savvy. The PSU in mind is fully modular if that helps, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm550 .

Would I still be able to run the fan set up I wanted? (Using the PSU to directly power the 3rd case fan)

Again, many thanks for the reply, and merry Christmas! :)

EDIT: Banzai, you explained that the case may have a fan controller built in, looking at the specs, http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/products/chassis/shinobi-window#specs I can't determine myself. As explained, I'm not 100% tech savvy and this is my first build. Any ideas?

Oh - I didn't see the Power Fan connector mention, my bad! In that case, I think you'll be fine connecting up all of your fans to the motherboard. The PSU fan is connected within the PSU, so you won't need to connect that to the motherboard :-)

Looking at the case description, I don't think it has an included fan controller. Most motherboards allow you some control via their BIOS, so since you seem to have enough on board connectors, you can control them from there. There's some software called Speedfan (I think), which can control the fans from within Windows. I have never tried this myself, though, but I've heard it mentioned several times.
