upgrading/buidling a new PC and I have this old PSU (coolmax cug-950b) laying around, is it good to use or should I buy a new one
I would throw it away ASAP. Its is nearly a decade old and Is HIGHLY DANGEROUS. Easily one of the worse PSU's I have came across. Whatever parts were powered by this time I would definitely be worried for their life span, they probably don't have much left in them so I would be ready to replace them, you don't just shake off nearly 1000mv of ripple(the max ATX spec calls for to be safe is 120mv and good PSU's have 30mv to under 10mv). I am not joking or being over the top what so ever, the PSU is the only part that is capable of having such nasty effects on a PC. It can't even do 700W,it protections doesn't work, the build quality is like if a 5 year built it, the exhaust is like a flamethrower at 91C, and the voltage is as stable as quick sand.
any recommendations then?
Thanks for the replay too!
