Hey guys, kind of a general topic/discussion but my current laptop isn't cutting it anymore and its time for me to upgrade. I'm not sure what direction I should move in, my main needs are mostly academic as I am a full time college student but also content creation (video editing/rendering, photo editing, music production stuff like that). I'm currently using a 2011 macbook pro and I'm running into a lot of problems, its also the only computer I've ever had so I don't have comparable experience with other brands.

So should I a. Go the easy route and buy the newest macbook pro, b. Make my own desktop computer (I've already gotten a couple great builds from you guys), c. Get a laptop from some other company, or d. some other thing?

Any advice would be great, also feel free to ask questions I'll do my best to answer them ASAP, thanks guys

What is your budget?

If you do primarily editing, a Thinkpad would serve you well, or another Mac. Desktops are not the best for college.

Budget probably max $2,500 since thats about how much the newest mac pro can cost, I'll look at thinkpad thanks

For Thinkpads, I suggest the P-series workstations.
