I am building a new computer (first one). I put everything together correctly, but nothing will turn on. What did I do wrong?

  1. Can we have your parts list

  2. Did you plug in all the cables? (GPU power (if applicable), 24pin(ish) motherboard power cable, 4+4pin eps (cpu power), hard drive/SSD power

  3. Reseat the ram

  4. Clear the CMOS

  5. Make sure (if you have a dedicated gpu) that you have your video cable plugged into that and not into the motherboard.

  6. This should be step one, make sure the PSU switch is set to on

  1. "I put everything together correctly"

  2. "but nothing will turn on"

If 1 = true and 2 = true then your PSU is dead. (or your socket in the wall doesn't have power)

If however the fan of your PSU starts to spin (but that can't be the case as you stated in number 2), then your MOBO is dead.

Or any other key component has failed, it doesn't necessarily have to be the PSU.

well, I just imangined which way the electricity goes.

and the sentence: "but nothing will turn on" implies to me, that the PSU fan ist not spinning. So, a dead PSU was my first guess.

But maybe the sentence "but nothing will turn on" is not to take literally, but how should I know.

tldr: need more info from OP

Some PSUs don't have the fans spin until a certain temperature, Op didn't specify his/her parts, so I don't know about their PSU in specific
