The gaming laptop predicament

decisions decisions...

So, I already have a solid midrange PC, but I was thinking of getting a gaming laptop for my birthday. The problem is, it's either that or a new guitar. So my question is: is it something that's really good to have?

P.S: I found a gaming laptop for 740 with an i7 7700hq and a 1050. Seems like a nice deal. Should I swap my i5 6400 from my pc into the laptop and swap the i7 into the pc? Is that even possible?

When you can get a new guitar, always get a new guitar.

In my life and many others around me, the chance you get to play games outside of home is very rare. I would always prefer a more portable laptop to a more powerful one.
