There are tons of good and cheap Ryzen mobo's already for such platforms, however, they would require a BIOS update to work with the latest gen upcoming CPU's. So will the manufacturers just take all the boards, update the BIOS, and then re brand it as the next chipset?

And of course, there would be no downside to such a thing, right? Because if such re branding doesn't occur I'd assume supply and demand would kick in and Ryzen Zen+ compat boards would be high priced - since everyone would wanna get it or upgrade.

No for cheap, AMD upgraded the power delivery requirements for 400 series motherboards, and there are no "Good" cheap motherboards currently.

All are Meh at best and Terrible at worst causing lost performance from throttling at anything over stock speeds.

Some higher end motherboards will most likely be rebranded simply because they are already capable of meeting the new power delivery requirements, but that is also a case of getting what you paid for.
