Nas (First build)

Starting to build a Nas and I guess the first step would be to find a case. Ive done some testing with old parts and nas4free From my research I think ill be going with a micro ATX case

Things I have decided on/requirements: 1) expandable to 6 drives (I will start with 2) 2) low power consumption 3) low cost (~$300 without drives) 4) will only be used on 1-2 devices simultaneously for media streaming and backup of 3-4 computers. 5) smaller is better but size isnt a major issue 6) usb 3.0

Fractal Design Arc Mini.

  • Micro ATX
  • 6 drive bays
  • 2 SSD/2.5 Hard drive mounting points behind MB tray.

Personally, I'd choose the FD Define Mini, but I can't tell if it has SSD mounts. You can still use the Define Mini too (tends to be quieter with the foam padded door), use up all 6 bays for your storage and just use a USB pen drive to run nas4free off.

step up just a bit and go for the NZXT Source210/220, it has tons of drive space
