GPU just died out of nowhere. What now?

my gtx 770 started crashed about 2 times in 30 minutes and the third time it would no longer give me monitor signal. This was really sudden. I thought GPUs died a slow death. This was actually my first dead GPU. It was bought used for $100 and lasted me 2 yrs. I know it is dead because I tried another GPU and everything works. Should I bake it? What do I do with it? Also, I'm thinking about picking up a used GTX 970 for $200 CAD or maybe a GTX 960, worth? Or pay $350+tax for a gtx 1060? GPU prices still haven't gone down...

  • GTX 970 and GTX 1060 are somewhat on par (GTX 1060 being a bit better)
  • GTX 960 and GTX 1050ti are even closer together (GTX 1050ti being a bit better)

have that in mind when buying cards, so you won't overpay on a used card (I am not familiar with prices in Canada)

  • another option for you could be a RX 570

I would go with a 1060 6gb if possible. You can pick them up brand new for 300$ if you shop around and lower if used.
