I'm not sure which to go with Seagate or Western Digital. I know they're both reputable and have larger capacity drives. So what's the difference?
It all comes down to price to performance.
Doubt you'll ever have problems with either brand or any name brand name in general. Had both brands over the years and never had one fail(or any hdd for that matter) Performance wise i doubt anyone could tell a difference outside of some synthetic benchmark. Assuming rpm, cache and size are they same i'd just go for the cheaper of the 2
Both brands are owned by the same company. Over the years quality has shifted between brands. I think the last time I looked at endurance and failure rates for some data centers, WD has had much lower failure rates over a given time vs Seagate. Which is why personally until I see other data, I currently opt for WD for spinning disk.
