No Display On Monitor

WeirdoA

I just built my first pc, so I probably messed something up. I booted it up and the fans starting going and the leds on the mobo turned on. Everything seemed fine, except the hdmi on my monitor turns on the monitor, but I get no display or signal on screen. any ideas? My dad thinks there may not be a driver for hdmi ready and I need a DVI cable, but we aren't sure.

If your running a Ryzen 2 chip (2200g, 2600, etc), you may need to get a BIOS update on your motherboard.

There may be a BIOS splash screen problem. Turn off the computer, and turn it back on. Keep pressing the delete key. Do you see anything?

Also a part list of your build would help :)

It's pretty unlikely that HDMI is not plug and play on mobo's these days. Are there any error codes on the motherboard?

Try these troubleshooting steps in the meantime:

  • Use one stick of RAM
  • Remove all unneccesarry hardware (case fans, wi-fi cards, etc)
  • Make sure that all cables are plugged in firmly (remember the CPU power: people forget that a lot)
