What should I keep in mind with my first mini ITX build?

This is a follow up to my question about finding the right case.
I'm fairly experienced with ATX and micro ATX but have yet to build a mini ITX. What differences are there when choosing parts and assembling the build? Obviously video card size, cooler size, etc are going to be factors, but what might I not be thinking of?
Basically I'd like to avoid making any newbie mistakes while trying a new form factor.

video card length is not a biggie the corsair 250d and bitfenix case both can hold a full size graphic card like the titan or 780.Silverstone makes a short power supply cables package.Asus impact mini itx is the best of the best right now but Msi gaming mini itx is really great also. Also some great regular mini it boards out there now also.Fractal has a node 804 case coming soon that is mini it with great cable routing.Corsair 250d allows for a full length atx power supply. Also the corsair case fits a h100i in the case also.
