Ram not working

I recently upgraded my system build with a new cpu, ram, and mobo. Until the new ram arrived, i was using the old 4 gb i had. However, for some reason the new ram isnt being used by the motherboard. The ram I got is https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XgJkcf/gskill-memory-f42133c15s8gnt and the motherboard im using it in is the https://pcpartpicker.com/product/c2DzK8/msi-b350-pc-mate-atx-am4-motherboard-b350-pc-mate . Both items are marked as compatable, and the bios recognizes the ram, but the 8 Gb isnt being added to the total memory size count.

Edit: by recognized, i mean memory-z shows the ram and it's stats, despite the ram apparently not being used.

Quick question...are you using the old RAM together with the new RAM? How many RAM sticks? What's the rest of your build specs?
