Looking into a new mobo

So here's my setup http://pcpartpicker.com/user/xPochi/saved/4eFs Im looking into a mobo that can handle a little more, my temps on my current run around 51c idle and doing minor stress stuff, but when im gaming (ultra res on any of these games and depending maybe OC'ed ""Metro last light-Bf4-Bioshock Infinite-Thief-Tomb Raider- Crysis- Sleeping Dogs-"" My temp gets pretty high. between 80c-92c Wondering if the asrock fatilty would be a better suitor or if anyone knows a mobo that can handle piledriver. Eventually im gonna crossfire and possibly with a better gpu. This gpu is really great but seems to be out of stock every time i look to buy. Anything helps guys thanks.

the reason your cpu temps are so high is because of the cpu cooler I would get something better. as for the psu I would get a 850w because amd gpus are power hungry when oced.

nice yea i was just wondering. some people play fight about mobo's like its a Ford vs Chevy thing. i think it just depends on what you used to. kinda like an operating sytem. some people like the bios on 1 better than the other. ect. ect. Thanks for your help though i really aprritiate it. Ill update as soon as i do a little more research. Also i was looking at this one moslty because it seeems like it has all the capabilities of the ones you sent me but a little cheaper. Any thoughts? im looking to get something ordered today. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157479

Hey buddy,

First thing. The CPU you have would not be able to fit on a z87 board. AMD mainstream level boards are the 970 chipset and for higher end 990 chipset.

The main part that will affect your temperatures would be the CPU cooler. I see you have an after market one, but it isnt the best one. I would suggest grabbing the cooler. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2 Its only 30 bucks and is light years ahead of the cooler you have now. Thet CPU cooler should bring ur idle temps into the 30c-40c range. Having your CPU at 90c is not very good for it, most overclockers say to keep it under 80 when it is under load.

51c seems to be a little high for stock settings. Are you overclocking? The motherboard will only affect temps or cpu performance if you are overclocking. If you dont plan to crank the voltage up or anything, the motherboard you have is fine. If you are looking to overclock and want an upgraded mobo, i would go with this one. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a99xevor20

And if you do overclock, make sure to research extensively, you can and will damage your CPU if you dont knwo what you are doing. A good guide to get you started(asumming you get the ASUS board) is here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

hope this helps. Id say the main thing you want to do is get that new cooler or crank down your overclock(if you are currently overclocking) so that your CPU is running under 80c.

that was good info. thanks. but my cpu is fine. the temps on my cpu stay cool even OC'ed up to 4.5ghz. (I can autoclock so i dont need to mess with all the bs of the manual OC.)however. my TMPIN1 on my mobo is the part getting hot. The rest of my mobo shows around 9c most of the time. maybe its a bad sensor?

Hmmmm, i see. the TMPIN1 high temp could be the board, it could be bc certain aftermarket coolers neglect to cool the VRMs and other board components like the stock cooler does. But most likely it is the board being pushed past its limits. since you are doing some fairly extreme OC's i would say get at the very least the board i suggested in the comment above Asus 990. If you have more of a budget the next steps up are the: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-sabertooth990fxr20 and http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-crosshairvformulaz

Im partial to Asus, but they are reguarded quite highly in the community.

If you wanted to stick with the board you have, you can try to get some better case airflow to passively cool your board which should being the TMPIN1 temps down a little, but i would still suggest turning down your voltages if you stick with the AsRock board.

why asus over xfx or PowerColor?

xfx and powercolor do not make motherboards. I would recommend XFX PSUs and i would only buy PowerColor GPUs if you are on a real tight budget.

also the cooler listed i forgot to update. i have a really nice radiator on there now.
