Linux compatibility on Motherboard with LGA 1150 / Z87 chipset

Hello,

I am researching for a M/B for an Intel 4771 (non-overclocking) processor. The operating system will be a Linux based one such as Ubuntu/Fedora/RedHat. My goal is for research experiment purposes and some home use (documentation, e-mails, Internet).

I came across the Asus Z87-A on Amazon in the customer feedback, with one reviewer stating that it does work on Ubuntu 13.04. A different consumer report review suggests that the Asus Z87-M Pro does seem to work on Ubuntu 13.04 but another person wrote elsewhere that a BIOS update may be disastrous for Linux right now. Gigabyte seems to want nothing to do with Linux. I don't know what is true and the information looks sketchy at best, and surprisingly, there doesn't appear to be much know-how on the Internet beyond all of this.

Anyone on the forum has experiences with current Intel M/B's on Linux?

Regards,

Venky
