I'm really not sure because on steam some games only come with a windows download :/ I don't mind buying windows but I don't want to spend unnecessary money. So is Linux good for gaming or..?

you don't have to "buy" gnu/linux - you just need to download the .iso, burn a dvd/cd of it (or run it from an usb-pendrive or sd-like card), and try and/or install from there

Depends on the game... If it's a Windows only game, then no. If there's a Linux version, then it depends on how you have it all set up... If you have never used Linux, this may not be the path you want to take if gaming is your main focus...

There are some other threads here that have already answered this question, why not take a look at them?

i guess that if Linux was not good for gaming, Valve would not bet so seriously on SteamOS - from my part, i only consider Linux for gaming (or perhaps also other libre operative systems like Haiku or ArOS, if good games appears there as well)

A lot of games are only for Windows so I would get Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit because Windows 8 has compatibility issues with some programs.
