New Monitor is making video card problems

Hello All,

I recently upgraded my monitor from a 1080p to the Acer Predator G-sync 1440p XB271HU. It looks great but I've noticed some problems with my GPU. I have a EVGA 980Ti acx 2.0. I've noticed when under load the fans are really loud, about 2300 rpm, and GPU diode sits at around 80 to 90C. I never had this problem before I started using the higher resolution monitor. My PC has also shut off suddenly three or four times since I got it, presumably over heating.

Does this sound like a video card issue to you? What are my options to fix it? The case is large and has good air flow and additional case fans are installed. Should I buy a water block for the card and connect it to a AIO liquid radiator? Is that even possible?

Please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.
