Hey guys! So my friend is looking for a budget rig than can be upgraded in the future. He saw one online and asked me if I could do better. Well, here is what I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PbXH8d

It's the best I could do, I wanted to know if anyone else thought I could do anything better. Thanks for the feedback!

EDIT: Price should be ~$600.

Your PC (at close to 100 over the $500 goal) is certainly the best-performing, but I've come up with something that offers a little more in the way of upgradability and comes in at a lower price, while offering superior performance to the original build and close/similar performance to your build.

Well he said he was ready to spend $600, sorry I didn't make that clear.

EDIT: He is also very firm in not moving to Windows 8.

Alright, I see how that makes sense. He has a couple hundred games though, so he will need at least 1.5TB (he has only a portion of them downloaded on his 1TB laptop and it's almost full). Also, he does not need an optical drive.

EDIT: Also not sure about that mobo. On Newegg there are more 1 star reviews than 5 star ones...

I can work with you on the motherboard, but we gotta bring down the video card to make a better-reviewed one fit.

As for storage, why not just pop that laptop drive out and drop it into this build?

Well, it's slow and he wants to be able to keep using his laptop without having to change parts every single time.
