asus sabertooth r2.0 or crosshair v formula?

Was browsing and came across the crosshair v , it matches the colour scheme in going for and is supposed to be a "gaming motherboard", i was originally going for the sabertooth r2, but v formula fits in more and is onley around £30 more with extra bios features, is it a good mobo and better than sabertooth?

crosshair: http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULA/

sabertooth: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/

which is better?

any help appreciated :)

Both are top of the line when it comes to MOBO's. If your budget can afford it go with the Crosshair V it has more features and is really the best MOBO asus makes.

Would it fit crossfire 7870s a WiFi PCI card and possibly in future a soundcard nice and snug or is the spacing a bit crowded? this would be my first build and when i see all the ports i really don't know which is which just by looking at a picture, thanks so far :)

Yes it will fit all of that easy. This is a 3 way SLI/Crossfire board.

Actually, you wouldn't be able to install the WiFi card if it's PCI (and not PCIe). The only PCI slot is #4, which would be covered by the second 7870.

If it's PCIe, everything's good; you'd just need to get a PCIe sound card as well, and install them both in the bottom two PCIe x16 slots.

One thing is that the rog board doesn't support pci 3.0 and the new saber tooth does. If you can wait till the rog board does support pci3 that would be for the best.

That would mean a whole new board tho wouldn't it, like a crosshair v formula 2? Which may be way more expensive, i onley looked at the v formula as it can be bought for 30 more, if one to support pci3 is going to be hundreds. More i might aswel stick with the sabertooth?

Also iv seen the increase in performance from a pci 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot to a 3.0 in 3.0 slot is like 5 fps difference, so os it worth it?

It would just be a revision most likely because it isnt changing the socket i dont see it cost to much more. The sabertooth is a very solid choice but so is the ROG board. It is really up to you because right now the GPUs dont fill the pci2 lanes so pci3 inst that big of a deal till the next generation of GPU.

Ok thanks for the help, its the "v formula z" that i want right? Seen another one called thunderbolt and one other I think, sorry so many questions :/

I'd go with the Sabertooth Gen3 r2.0 for the aforementioned PCI-E 3.0 and slightly lower price tag.

It was only to fit in a colour scheme so if sabertooth r2 is better ill stick with, confused as to were the pci 3.0 is tho, on the site it only mentions pci 2.0 expansion slots :/

Make sure you are looking at the right motherboard. There is a Sabertooth r 2.0 and a Sabertooth Gen3 r 2.0.
