Need Help with Gaming Build - This will be my 2nd Build Ever

I built my first PC over 8 years ago... Haven't touched it much over the past 2 years, as I've been gaming off of my HP Laptop. For Father's Day, my wife truly surprised me. She gave me a gift box that when I opened, had a picture of a PC in it... I looked at it, smiled, looked at her and she said, "it's your PC."

It took me a while to get it. She's been watching me browsing reddit (/r/PCMasterRace and /r/buildapc to name some subreddits) and wanted to give me the gift of PC gaming... That, and she's probably heard me complain here and there at the lack of speed and visual quality of some of the games I've been playing on my laptop.

So, I need some help in deciding what I should get to put together a gaming rig that will bring me joy for the next few years. I love games like Skyrim (would love to be able to mod and not lose frame rates), Diablo III, Bioshock, etc. My wife didn't give me a budget, but I want to be mindful and keep it under/around $1,800.

Thank you all in advance! And much love to my adoring wife for this awesome gift.

Looking through the Forums and at other builds, I pieced together the PC below. Let me know your thoughts and recommendations. I truly want this to be a gaming rig that will bring me joy for the years to come... That, and one that will allow me to enjoy the Steam library I have amassed over the past two years of Steam Sales Thanks Gabe!... BTW - Steam Summer Sale just started... Sigh

Just 2 dollars more and you could swap the R9 290 into a R9 290X

If you wanted to drop the price by 200 dollars, without sacrificing to much power, what would you (reading this) change?
