Gaming and some video editing. I also use Zbrush which tends to destroy every other pc and Mac I own lol
A few things:
CPU: I don't know what you plan to use this for, but if it is for gaming, I would recommend the i5-4690k. If you need an i7, I would recommend a 4th generation i7, most notably the i7-4790k or 4930k.
Cooler: The cpu you have selected is not unlocked, which means that it is hard to overclock. Due to this, the cooler you have selected is overkill. If you plan to overclock, get a cpu that has "k" at the end. If you are not overclocking, getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 should be enough.
Just me, but I would go for a less expensive motherboard.
Memory: If it is for gaming, 8GB is enough. 16GB is overkill.
Storage: The SSD is ok, but it is recommended to get a 1-3TB HDD along with it for mass storage.
GPU: It is generally better to get a single better card rather than sli two cheaper cards.
Based on the guess that this is for gaming, here is what I would do:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
Seeing that you also do video editing, I would recommend this:
ok... . . .I used the i5, sorted out the gpu and managed to skim of some of the cost. what do you think?
This looks really good. Really the only thing I might change is getting 2x8 ram instead of 4x4 so you could upgrade in the future. But, I really don't see that as being a problem as 16GB is plenty. Nice list.
Ah yes. good call. thanks
Thanks! I get the unlocked part. big mistake on my part!
Im stuck on the sabertooth for some reason. I like the expandability there. and its sexy as hell.
8 gigs is enough, but ill also be doing some video editing and zbrush sculpting and i know first hand how much zbrush taxes memory.
I have a couple of 1T drives laying aroung anyway. no need for a new one there.
Ill defenately look at getting a single gpu, and a one slot mobo.
Why not this instead?
