This is my g/f build, she doesn't need anything fancy, however I am kinda OCD about computers being clean and what goes into them, she needs to do schooling and gaming on it (any better processors for the price range), Sims 3, Sims 4, Runescape ect, graphics card okay? Also my aim here is to have a white build and change it to purple led inside the case with the NZXT Hue.

The second one is my personal pc, is the cooling enough for that processor, I heard its stupid hot, and fast. Also I will be playing Sims 3 and Sims 4, along with ripping alot of music and movies to the computer, it will also double as my main household server. This will have a white led at the bottom with a straight black and red color interior.

And then some extra stuff:

Let me know if theres things you can do better with point range, but still keep the performance.

I will be purchasing this all on black friday-cyber monday to save money. Also does anyone know where to get a 280x reference graphics card, I cant find them anywhere.

For your girlfriend's build I would just go with the 8320. It is the same as the 8350, but cheaper and set to a lower clock speed that can easily be overclocked to the 8350. As for your processor, why do you need that powerful of a CPU? From your description, the 8320 will do just fine for your build as well.

For both builds, a WD blue is a tiny bit cheaper if you are trying to scrap some money for other components.

You don't need 16GB of storage on both of them, 8gb on each will do just fine.

If your gaming 8GB would do the trick. Both machines are encoding videos, amd mp3 files. My g/f is very protective of computers, she would not allow me to overclock it. As for the processor, mine is a enthusiast build, not only that but I floored the 8350 slightly overclocked on my last computer, encoding 2.5 gig movies, ripping movies, playing a game and encoding music all at once.

Well if you're not overclocking, no need for the liquid cooling, just get a Coolermaster or Noctua CPU cooler, save $80 and take her to a nice dinner!;D

Eh, I like the look of them, especially with my processor it needs it. Those things run stupid hot. I wouldn't be against it for my g/f build tho.

  • 1 point

That sounds like a good idea.

Heh, I like the look of them too, but I plan on making my own custom loop with one of these suckers: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11226/ex-res-234/FrozenQ_PC_Mods_160mm_Liquid_Fusion_Reservoir_V_Series_2nd_Generation-_UV_Cathode_-_Fluorescent_Blue_Helix.html so I decided to just get a normal air and start saving!

EDIT: Link was wrong.

That thing looks tight tho, I will eventually setup my own custom one (I had one set up before but I lost my job), and build it into my system, same with hers, that's why I picked such ridiculous cases.

Wayyyyy too much on case fans. Just sayin.

Yes, I know however I am replacing the H110 fans with the quiet series, plus the extra ones will be used to replace the stock case fans. You know any other corsair ones that are 140mm and cheaper that push more then 65 CFM

Yea, i decided to go with the Intel's listed above, with minor tweaks, I ended up saving alot of money actually, maybe some of it can be invested into a custom water cooling loop. Diffidently have to give you some props on that build you did for my gf tho, I always appreciate other peoples views.

If I'm honest these builds have a lot of excess in some of the parts chosen. I'm just going to link you two new builds and you can ask whatever questions you'd like about the changes and I'll do my best to explain them:

I am not against either of these builds and actually they are really solid, however personal preference on mine, as I like the colors I've chosen :), and hers doesn't matter, but its got to have a 27". Mine is a AMD out of personal preference nothing against Intel tho, they have very responsive processors.

  • 0 points

I'm pretty sure I kept the same color scheme for you? As for the 27 inch I HIGHLY recommend against it with a 1080p monitor because things will end up looking slightly pixellated due to the low ppi.

  • 1 point

Really? So what like a 24 or 25"?

  • 0 points

I think 24 inch is as high as you should go for 1080p. Otherwise bump up to 1440p with 27 inch, but that will add a good bit extra to the price.

True, how does the intel i7 handle with encoding videos and music tho? Also I noticed there was no ram :p
