Looking to get a few opinions on part optimization (efficiency vs. price) ~ $1200-$1400 budget

Howdy, I'm planning to do my first build ever in the near future and I was hoping to get some input about the selected parts. The intended use is mostly for gaming and 3D animation/rendering. Trying no maintain a budget of ~$1200-$1400

What was done right? What could be changed...etc?

Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Managed to shave a total of 30 bucks off the build while still upgrading you to an i7 to help with animation/rendering, and bumping up to a 290 instead of the 770:

Thanks. Looks like you re-did the whole thing :p Now is the i7 and the 290 combo significantly better?

Yes, there is a noticeable difference in performance. The i7 will help with rendering and animation (if the program you use makes use of hyperthreading) and the 290 is a good bit better than the 290.
