Gaming Build Opinions.

I'm in the process of finalizing my build and I have a buddy that swears that a GTX 660 would be enough with my build to play games. I read reviews and I keep coming back to the GTX 770 or R9 290. I'm planning on playing games like Battlefield, Arma 3, Day Z, and GTA 5 and trying to keep the build under $1100 before my monitor is figured in. Any help would be great! Thanks for looking.

Wow, that is a pretty solid build. Looking at reviews and benchmarks of that video card and that thing is a beast!

R9 290s, especially those highly rated, shouldn't be passed up when they are under $375.

.... this should serve a lot better. seeing as you will definitely need more than 120 gb of storage to store games and your os. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tQXxbv

My bad, I totally forgot to mention. I have a 1 TB Drive already for storage, Blu Ray Drive, and Case.

It's true that the gtx 660 can run those games on low to medium settings at 1080P. If you get a R9 280 or R9 280x or r9 290 then you can max out. A r9 290 will only be needed to run at hi res like 2K monitors.

For you I would recomend anything from a GTX 670ti - GTX 770 or a R9 270x - R9 280x.

That 660 that your friend says can run SOME games but will run into problems in games that will be released. Most new games will rely more on graphics so its better sometimes to get a little more power for later.

So I read that the GTX 760 and 770 are pretty much the same card..is this true?

pretty much you only get like a few fps more on games so yes.
