This is a potential build for a friend of mine. The only certainty here is the GPU, as it's part of a trade. I'm looking for any suggestions, maybe within the same price range, or perhaps similar firepower at a better budget. It's for gaming and just general use. Thanks in advance.

This system will bury the one you currently have, if the price is too high I would go with this build:

A lot of good ideas here. I'll try a different mix with some of these and come back. Thank you.

AMD is usually good for budget builds, so I hooked you up with an fx8320 and a Gigabyte mobo for less than $235 and some change. Both are GREAT components. anyone who says otherwise is a communist. For RAM, your friend is going to need 8gb of RAM 1600MHz+ for optimum performance. $75 is pretty standard. What's really great about this RAM is that it's got a CAS latency of 8, which lower is better btw. 10+ just find different memory lol. And these ladies are 2133MHz. Awesome. I changed the case mainly bc too many people use it. I know its a great case, but damn, way overplayed. The case i picked is very sexy. (Real reason, I missed the part that the gpu card was part of a trade as I was setting you up with a 280x in the build. :S.) PSU I picked because I felt like changing a part for no reason apparently.

Proposed Amendments: 1. Get a better quality PSU than the one I got. Try for Silver or Gold Certified. EVGA Corsair Seasonic and Antec(?) possibly the greatest brands in psu's. with that build you got and the revised build list i got, you need atleast a 450W PSU. If your friend is planning on SLI or overclock action, Get a beefier PSU.

  1. Get a CPU cooler. Even if it has to be a $30 one, keep that CPU cool! Depending on the CPU you may or may not be overclocking, but a $30 aftermarket cooler is better than some of the stock cpu coolers that you could get with some CPU's. And quieter!

  2. Sell the GPU and get a 280X or save up for a 780. Personal Opinion anyways.

Hope whatever decisions you guys make goes well, good luck!

Oh and for some reason i can't get my posts to format properly. Let me know if its messed up and i'll just edit it in regular text format. stupid work computer.
