My First Build (Am I doing right?)

Hi, I'm new to pc building and I'm in need of a gaming desktop. THIS IS MY FIRST BUILD. Am I doing it right so far, any recommendations? I'm trying to stick to a budget of around 1000. I will use it mainly to play FPS's, rpgs, strategy games, basically any modern games on mid graphical settings. I won't have 10 tabs opens all with 1080p videos streaming while playing games. I'll just have the game running.

Maybe someone knowledgeable about an AMD build could chime in.

Oh, gotcha. I just checked and upgrading to i7 and gtx 770 is like 200 dollars more. Should I go for that instead?

If you have money then you are good to go.

An I7 will be overkill for Gaming and if you like the 770 I would go for it. Want me to do a red one with those parts?

This would be a great Red Themed Gamer:

If you still have room in the budget the next thing to add would be a 240 GIG ssd. Like this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct256mx100ssd1

I have a question. Wouldn't make more sense to have an i5 k? that way I could over clock or is over clocking generally not needed?

Also which is better for gaming win7 or win8?

First off you want to change that RAM to two sticks as it runs more efficiently than just 1 stick and is the same price. Second that GPU is crap compared to the other ones for the same price, you'll want to go with the R9 270 Twin Frozr for near the same price because it performs much better in benchmarks. The rest seems pretty good.

I see... I heard that amd is unreliable though.

That's just ridiculous. Get out of here, and go visit Alienware.
