The 280x is a solid card, good for 1080p gaming and most 1440p. If you are looking for ram suggestion, i would suggest Corsair Vengence 2x4 1866mhz sticks or G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4 1866mhz.

can anyone tell me the good/bad of using 2133 DDR3 as opposed to the 1866 mentioned? Also I was thinking of going with 16G instead 8G

ram speed for gaming doesn't really factor in the only difference is your going to spend more on the higher speed ram 1600 is good for gaming any more is sorta over-killing although higher clock speed for ram will help in application like rendering and video editing if your planning on doing things like streaming 16 G of ram would be preferable and a higher clock speed like 1866 would help
