First Build - Thoughts?

Hello all,

I am currently nearing the end of my part-picking phase, and will be ordering parts in the coming week or two. My main use will be for gaming, as well as school work. My working budget is between $ 500-550.

How does my build look? I tried to pick the most bang-for-the-buck parts I could find, and skimped on the memory so I can buy another 4 gb down the line. I figured I'd go with Intel just because, but a lot of online guides seem to rely heavily on AMD; is AMD better for low budgets? (Would I be better off being cheaper and getting an Athlon 760k, R7 265 build?)

I'm brand new to this, so any and all help is appreciated!

First of all not enough RAM, 4 GB is for everyday use not gaming, gaming needs 8 GB, otherwise you will be having some problems. Second try to go with a 2 stick configuration since it gives better performance.

I knew about the dual channel setup, but I initially thought I could just save $40-50 bucks now. But with your AMD setup, the 8GB RAM fits into my budget. Thanks for the tip!

So, here is a revised Intel build (this comes out cheaper than your suggested build); How do the parts look?

They look great, just make sure you look out for deals for those parts, sometimes you can get better ones for the same price but if you dont have time for that they are ready to be built.
