So this is my current build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/K3hXJx

I am hoping to drop the price by at least $500 but do not want to sacrifice performance or proper cooling of the components of the machine. It is going to be used for gaming mostly and maybe some projects (web development etc). Any suggestions will be fantastic, I am just wanting to get some ideas. Thank you so much in advance for any help.

Ok, I dropped it pretty close to $500 dollars. Let me know if you need it cheaper.

CPU- 4690k is better for keeping cool than the 4670k

Mobo- good motherboard for a great price. You don't need to pay for a a motherboard with features you are never gonna use.

RAM- for gaming, 8mb 1600 RAM is all you need, any more isn't gonna give you enough performance increase to notice.

GPU - 4gb 770 is a no-no. The card isn't fast enough to use that much memory. This card will get you better framerates.

Cheaper case. I don't think you need a full sized. comes with integrated fan controller. I added matching fans to fill your case out. USB 3.0 and a window to see your work.

I took off the sound card, as your motherboard comes with integrated audio.

Any questions, just ask.

First off, thank you so much Superkevster for taking the time to help me :). You have really helped me come to an understanding of what is needed and where I was in excess. I have three questions for you though: 1. Is there a way to integrate led lighting to help give it a bad a$$ look?(preferably green or blue) 2. How much power and performance would I have to sacrifice to bring it closer to say around $1000, if that is even possible with say two monitors? 3. What is your honest opinion on water cooling vs traditional fans? I have heard opposition to water cooling and don't really understand why people feel the way they do about it. So what is your opinion.

Thank you so much for aiding me in my pc enlightenment my good sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

I don't know a whole lot about led lighting. I would look into led strips or led fans. It is possible to lower the price that much, but you'll be taking hits all over to performance. No ssd, no overclocking, dual core cpu, lower end gpu. No bluray. I put this together. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
