Ultimate Gaming Machine - Up to $5000 - Here's my List

Hi everyone,

First time posting today, I wanted your feedback on my 'System Build' parts. My budget is $5000 for the whole thing including a monitor. If you access my build called 'Ultimate Gaming Machine' you'll be able to see the parts I picked. On top of these parts I'd also like to get the 'Perfect Pixel 27" Zalcom Zevroid-27QV Plus 2560x1600 AH-IPS Ultra slim LED 2560x1440 HDMI DP Monitor 120Hz overclock support'.

Not sure if any of the parts I chose are an overkill or not, or if I should get another video card and connect via SLI. Also I picked this monitor because this is the only one I found that is 27", IPS, high resolution (higher than 1080) and 120hz. Also response time is not too bad.

I would love to hear from you guys about my picks - what should I change and what screen is best with this rig. The goal is to stay under $5000 and have the best possible gaming experience (looks and smoothness is more important than response time since I'm not a competitive gamer, just an amateur who appreciates quality).

Thank you guys! Looking forward to hear what you have to say.

May not be able to help in selecting parts, but just upon inspection I can tell that this is definitely overkill considering you could pay less for the best possible gaming experience.

A few points (someone correct me if wrong):

  1. Do you need a keyboard and mouse?
  2. Unless you got a bunch of steam games or general games ready to install and play, I think a lower capacity SSD or HDD would suffice.
  3. Unless you can't access your LAN port I see no reason for a wi-fi adapter.
  4. Lastly, 32GB RAM is way overkill for just gaming, if you were doing other things I would understand.

Hope this helps, no matter how limited it is lol

Nice. Thanks! Why 3 GFX cards? would it really make a difference vs. one or two of them?

Oh yeah, big time, 3 780TI's would give you a ridiculous amount of power capable of playing @1440p across 3 monitors with ease!

Thanks for the reply. Why would I need 3 GTX 780 Ti's? Would it really make a difference if I have one, two or three of these cards? Also, wouldn't windows 7 be faster than windows 8?

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=384741 here you have some benchmarks for different 780ti setups. You will notice that the 780ti is the most efficient one. You can even buy a 4k Monitor for it.

And i've heard that Windows 8.1 will have better support for directx 12

will do. Still need help with finding a good monitor though. Looking for a 27" IPS monitor with 120hz and low response time. Does that even exist?

the qnix and other korean panels have a response time of 6ms iirc, pick one up that's an ultimate perfect pixel off of ebay.
